Q1. How much does it cost to advertise on HTO?

A1. The cost of advertising varies depending on the package that you choose. The bronze package costs
$11.00 for 12 weeks, the silver costs $22.00 for 12 weeks and the gold costs $44.00 for 12 weeks. If you are advertising in the business directory then this costs $55.00 for 12 months. 

Q2. How long before my ad appears online?

A2. Ads appear on HTO instantly.

Q3. How long does my ad stay online?

A3. Ads will stay online for 12 weeks from the date of posting. This is for all ads except those on the business directory which stay online for twelve months.


Q4. How do I change my personal details or update my ad once it is online?

A4. Once you have become a registered HTO member you will be able to click on the icon at the top of the screen titled “manage your account”. This takes you through to the page where you can view your personal details and all current adverts. This page gives you the chance to change your personal details or to view, edit or remove any or all of your current ads.



Q5. My photographs were taken by a professional - can I use them?

A5. That is up to the photographer. Most photographers do not mind provided they are given credit for the photo. We recommend that you check with the photographer for permission to use their photos, and as the copyright of the photograph belongs to the photographer we ask that you please credit all professional photographers used in your ad. It is preferable to use photographs taken by professionals as they tend to be of a higher quality and therefore show your horse or product in the best possible way

Q6. How much text, photos and videos can I use in my ad?

A6. For the Gold Ad Package you can use up to 6mb of video, 4 photos (max. file size 400kb per image) and 500 characters of text.
For the Silver Ad Package you can use up to 4 photographs (max. file size 400kb per image) and 500 words of text.
For Bronze Ad Package you can use 500 characters of text.
For the Business Directory you can use 500 characters of text.

Q7. I am using more than one photo – how do I select the main one?

A7. You can choose which of your photographs you would like to be used as your main one when you are uploading them onto your ad. As you upload the photos one at a time you will see the “select as main photo” icon. As you upload your chosen photograph simply click this icon. This will then be the photo used on the display page for your ad.

Q8. If I choose a Gold or Silver Ad Package can I upload my videos and/or photos at a later stage?

A8. Yes, As long as you have selected and paid for the appropriate package then you are able to upload photos and/or videos at any point during the run of your advertisment.

Q9. What format/size should my photos and/or video be?

A9. Videos should be in WMV, MOV or AVI format and no larger than 6mb in size. Photographs should be .gif or .jpg file formats. Files should be no larger than 400kb per image.


Q10. I only have normal printed photos – how can I get them onto my online advertisement?

A10. There are two ways to get your printed photographs onto your computer. The first is to scan them and then save them onto your computer ,disk or CD and then upload them onto HTO. The second way is to go to a photographic store that will be able to put them onto a disk for you to take home to your computer to upload.

Q11. I have forgotten my password – what do I do?

A11. If you have forgotten your password you can have reminder sent to you email address. There is a box on the user registration page called “forgotten your password” which you can click on and type in your email address. A reminder of your password will then be sent to your email address.

Q12. What if I sell the horse or item I have advertised?

A12 When you sell your horse or item that you advertised you have several options. You can login and go to the “manage your account” page where you have two choices. The first of these is to click on the “mark as sold” button which will remove the price from the ad and place a sold sticker in its place. The other option is to click on the “remove” button which will remove the ad from the website entirely. Alternately, if you do nothing the ad will run to its expiry date when it will automatically be removed.

Q13. Can I remove my ad if needed?

A13. You can remove you ad at anytime for any reason. Simply login and go to the “manage your account” page where you can click on the “remove” button which instantly takes your ad off the website. Please note that removing an ad before its expiration date will result in forfeiting the remaining time for that ad. Should you choose to place the ad back on the website you will have to pay for the cost of a new ad.

Q14. How do buyers contact me?

A14. Buyers can contact you via any of the details that you provided at the time of placing your ad. This can be by phone, mobile or email. HTO has no personal contact with the buyers and all dealings are direct between the advertisers and buyers.


Q15. Why do I need to register with HTO?

A15. You need to register with HTO so that you can manage your ads, have access to the email alert system and utilise the items of interest functions.

Q16. What are email alerts?

A16. When you are a registered member of HTO you will be able to go to the “manage your account” page and select certain categories for email alerts. When ads within your specified categories are uploaded to HTO you will be sent email alerts to your registered email address to inform you of the ads.


Q17. How do I use the item of interest function?

A17 Once you have registered with HTO you will be able to select any ads that are of further interest to you. These are saved on the “manage your account” page where you will be able to view them at anytime without needing to search the website.


Q18. How do I manage my account?

A18. Once you are a registered member of HTO you will be able manage any current ads by editing them, removing them or marking the item as sold. You will have access to the email alert and items of interest functions and will be able to edit your personal details. The “manage your account” facility is very easy to use and makes HTO truly interactive by putting your in control of your ads.
